Inside Sizzler’s last day of trade in iconic Toowoomba location
Staff and customers have tasted their last slice of the iconic cheese toast from Sizzler, and walked out of the restaurant for the final time, as the iconic establishment closed its doors permanently.

After almost a decade of meeting locals, serving food, and working with a “dream team”, Niki Ryan has said goodbye to the job she loves at Sizzler following the devastating news of its closure.
Sizzler Toowoomba served their last slice of cheese toast on the weekend as the doors to the iconic establishment closed permanently.
Ms Ryan said her experience with the company had been a positive one, and staff were very well taken care of following the news of the closures.
“I feel very emotional, it’s been a great company to work for,” she said.
“I just love the teamwork, everyone gets cross-trained in every section and we all pull together as a team.
“We’re just one big happy family.
“It’s just an icon and when I got the job here I was so happy.”
Abul Deng worked at Sizzler for two and a half years.
What started as an after-school job to earn a bit of money turned into a long-term role that she grew to love.
“It’s sad, but we’ll all keep in touch,” she said.
“We’ve become a big family to the point that you can’t tear us apart.”
Local Angie Boden brought her family to the restaurant for their final day of trading, saying the loss of the establishment had hit the family hard.
“This is where we celebrate everything, this is where we get together as a family,” she said.
“We’ve talked through some of the world events that have happened, and celebrated births of children.
“So we’ll miss all of that.”
