Residents can expect isolated showers starting from midweek, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, as the region catches the edge of a coastal trough.
BOM meteorologist Rosa Hoff said any rainfall in the region would be hit or miss.
“A coastal trough moving in on Wednesday will enhance rainfall for people closer to the coast, with Toowoomba and the eastern Downs on the edge of that rainfall region,” Ms Hoff said.
“At this stage, any rainfall could be patchy.
“Thursday and Friday will be the focus of the wet weather and we are expecting around 5mm of rain around the region, particularly further south, between Thursday and Saturday.”
Ms Hoff said the changing weather patterns would also lead to some “interesting” temperature changes.
“Although temperatures will be around average today, they will rise for Wednesday to around three to five degrees above average,” she said.
“Cool air will move in on Thursday as rainfall and cloud cover increases, which will lead to maximum temperatures being one to three degrees below average all the way through to the weekend.”
