Police return to Postman Ridge to search for Traie Olsen

Police are asking anyone who travelled on a particular road in the Toowoomba region to contact them, as they continue to search for a woman missing for nearly two weeks. See the details here.

A POLICE search and rescue party returned to scrubland off Gittins Road for a second day to look for missing woman Traie Olsen.

The 50-year-old Toowoomba woman was last seen on February 17 in the Toowoomba CBD.

She is described as caucasian, approximately 165cm tall with a slight build, black hair and brown eyes.

Her silver 2004 Mazda hatchback was located on Gittins Road at Postmans Ridge earlier this week, prompting a police search of the area.

It is comprised of uniformed officers, detectives from the Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch and State Emergency Services volunteers.

District duty officer Acting Senior Sergeant Ray Van Den Bosch said police are concerned for Ms Olsen’s health because she had been missing for two weeks during a period marked by hazardous weather.

“There is no reason to suggest that she has come to any harm,” he said.

“It could just be a case that she has got herself lost or had a friend pick of up and has not checked in with family.”

“Further ground searches are planned and the public are encourage to report any sighting to police link.”

It is standard practice for detectives to assist with land searches.

“The search and rescue team is response for physical location of the missing person and to help guide us the CIB has avenues of inquiry and intelligence checks to point us in the right direction,” Sgt Van Der Bosch said.
