The Groom by-election is on November 28.

Groom residents planning to vote by post in the electorate’s November 28 by-election are being urged by the Australian Electoral Commission to act now.

Acting Australian Electoral Officer for Queensland, Adrian McCabe, said people who needed to apply for a postal ballot were running out of time.

“The message is clear – if you need a postal ballot, act now,” Mr McCabe said.

“The deadline for applications is 6pm AEST on Wednesday, November 25, which is quite close to by-election day.

“The earlier you apply, the better chance we have of getting a ballot paper to you in time.”

Mr McCabe said people who had already received their voting pack were encouraged to complete it quickly.

“If you’ve already applied for and received your ballot paper, please complete and post it back to the AEC as soon as possible,” he said.

As of November 16, more than 12,600 postal applications had been received in Groom.
