Three friends who graduated into adulthood together have now completed their desired degrees and are ready to take on the world.
Communications and media student Lily Ryan, and nursing students Paris Pola and Bec Ryan graduated from the University of Southern Queensland this month surrounded by their loved one after a stressful several years involving internships, placements, exams and assignments.
Bec said she had met Paris when she moved from Goondiwindi to attend Downlands College at the start of high school.
Paris became best friends with Lily in primary school, and the three connected during their teenage years, and again as young adults.
Bec said it was nice to be able to go through a sometimes challenging time with her friends, particularly Paris who was doing the same degree as her.
“We were both away from home for a long time (during our placements) and to be able to relate to the whole process together was really special,” Bec said.
“It’s exciting to finish at the same time … it made it feel pretty special.”
Lily will become an au pair in Europe for three months, while Paris is set to do a graduate program at St Andrews Toowoomba Hospital in surgical, and Bec is off to work in emergency at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Hundreds of students from a variety of subjects came together at the Empire Theatre to mark the end of their university days.
