Crowds took to the streets of Toowoomba’s CBD at the weekend, to celebrate the achievements of working people across the region and their unions.
Taking to Russell Street, workers and their loved ones participated in a march for Labour Day.
The march held high significance this year as it marked the 131st observance of Labour Day in the state.
Queensland Council of Unions Toowoomba branch spokesman Zeb Sugden said the fight continues.
He said as a result of the union movement, progressive changes were made in the workplace including minimum wages, equal pay for women, safety laws, workers’ compensation, paid leave, penalty rates and superannuation.
