Dogs might be man’s best friend, but this particular pooch will forever be indebted to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service.

A QFES spokeswoman said a crew of firefighters were called to a Hamilton St, Newtown address at 12.40am on Wednesday after a dog managed to get some wire wrapped around its leg.

“The resident couldn’t get it off and neither could the neighbours,” the spokeswoman said.

On scene for about 20 minutes, the crew cut the dog free and then returned to the station.
