A world record holding hypnotherapist and a Toowoomba mother of three have launched a new business to help the community through the world of holistic healing and hypnosis.

Phil Hedges and Melinda Evans have just opened the Progressive Hypnosis Academy and are already changing lives, one healing hypno session at a time.

“We actually met online through Facebook and through a few training sessions,” Mr Hedges said,

“He would teach me hypnotherapy in exchange for learning more about reiki, which is one of my specialities,” Ms Evans said.

“And from there something just clicked and we realised together we could offer the Darling Downs some of the healing and support the world so greatly needs right now.”

Mr Hodges holds the world record for fastest handshake hypnosis induction (0.72 seconds) and putting the most people into catalepsy (full blown hypnosis) and placing them between two chairs in 60 seconds.

“Hypnosis for us is much more than a party trick or a stage show, although it can definitely be fun and certainly has a wow factor, the Progressive Hypnosis Academy is all about learning how hypnotherapy can change your life for the better,” he said.

“I discovered hypnotherapy three years ago when I was working as a prison guard and I was over weight and unhappy with my life, and after discovering how transformative the practice could be, shedding 16 kilos and generally learning to love my life again I decided I wanted to bring the power of hypnotherapy to others.”

“Not many people realise how much of their day they actually spend under hypnosis,” Ms Evans said.

“But once you can learn how to harness that power and how to use it to make your mind more resilient, hypnosis can be an extremely powerful tool you can use to do much more than quit smoking and lose weight, it can help you make your dreams a reality.”

The pair have now set up shop inside the Emerald Kove offices and are offering one-on-one, group sessions and training seminars for hypnosis and hypnotherapy while Ms Evans offers reiki, mediation, yoga, life coaching and nutrition and health mentoring through her separate business Spirit Remedy.
