People looking to get vaccinated by walking in to a Darling Downs Health vaccination clinic in Toowoomba or Dalby face wait times of less than an hour, with health authorities urging anyone looking to get vaccinated to pre-register.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said from now, every weekend was a “Super Pfizer” weekend, with state-run vaccination centres ramping up to boost the state’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout.
“Queensland has more than 80 vaccination hubs,” she said.
“The hubs are in addition to GPs and pharmacies with more opening all the time. The more people vaccinated, the safer we will be.
“While we have won many battles, vaccination is the only way we win the war.”
Darling Downs Health acting executive lead, health emergency operations centre, Michelle Forrest, said their aim was to make it as easy as possible for people to receive a Covid-19 vaccination at either their Clifford Gardens or Dalby vaccination centres.
“This now includes the ability for people to walk-in without a booking. We will do our best to provide a vaccination at that time, or we will book people in for an appointment that suits,” she said.
“People with bookings will still be prioritised. it really helps our staff if people pre-register before they attend.”
Ms Forrest said wait times at the vaccination clinics were “reasonable”, with most people in and out within 30 to 45 minutes.
“We have seen 9444 people through the Clifford Gardens Clinic and 645 at Dalby, as at September 29,” Ms Forrest said.
“We are now starting to see good supply of vaccine in the community. We have been working with GPs, pharmacies, and other community clinics to provide the vaccine right across the health service since March, and now we have an additional 45 pharmacies providing Moderna.
“There is no better time than today to get vaccinated.”
