Crows Nest Mum scratches thousands off in $2 Xmas gift
A lucky Crows Nest mother has won big after a family member gifted her with an Instant Scratch-It ticket for Christmas.

A CROWS Nest mother was gifted a life-changing amount of money on Christmas Eve in the form of a major prize winning scratch=it.
The young mum, who chose to remain anonymous, scratched off a whopping $25,000 prize from a $2 Christmas Cheer Instant Scratch-It ticket from Crows Nest Newsagency last Friday.
“It’s hugely overwhelming,” the woman laughed.
“It’s mind-blowing. Life-changing.”
The woman scratched off the lucky prize while in newsagency with her husband.
“This is very exciting, and so well deserved,” newsagency owner Barry Robinson said.
“What a great Christmas present for them and their family.
“We knew straight away (she had won), but we still had to go through all the protocols to get it verified.”
The woman said she was in complete shock when the third bell was unveiled.
“I had to get my husband to check it. There were three symbols in a row, but I didn’t believe it,” she said.
“I’ve won some smaller prizes on Instant Scratch-Its before, but … wow, not with that many zeros.”
Mr Robinson said a staff member was also asked to verify the win, after the shock seemed unbelievable to the young couple.
“They just couldn’t believe it when it first happened,” he said.
“It’s really exciting that it happened here.
“It’s good that people get so excited when they actually scratch a prize off, and we get to see it.”
The Crows Nest mother said the $25,000 would make a big difference for the family.
“Coming at Christmas time, this prize is a huge help,” she said.
“It allows us to pay off some bills and sets us up nicely for the New Year.
“My happy New Year has already begun.”
During the 2020-21 financial year, 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 31.2 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $274.31 million.
This equates to more than $750,000 won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
