Covid vaccine Toowoomba: Goondiwindi vaccination clinic opening hours extended

After a busy weekend Goondiwindi Hospital’s Covid-19 super clinic, opening hours have been extended for Wednesday.

New restrictions for QLD as two new COVID-19 cases recorded

A vaccination clinic operating out of Goondiwindi Hospital will extend its opening hours until 7pm on Wednesday.

Goondiwindi Hospital director of nursing Allison Cilento said with many people in the region working and unable to attend the clinic the extension would be a chance for residents to roll up their sleeves and get the Pfizer jab.

“The clinic is operating right through until 4pm Thursday so this is a great opportunity for people aged 16 and over to get the Pfizer vaccine,” she said.

“To make the process as simple as possible our team can help you register when you arrive, so don’t worry about pre-registering, just come to the clinic at the Bowls Club end of the hospital and we’ll be happy to help you.

“Please remember to bring your ID, Medicare card, and a pen.

“There will be a follow-up clinic to provide the second dose from July 30 to August 5.”

Goondiwindi mayor Lawrence Springborg said everyone eligible for the jab should attend the clinic, including those south of the border.

“I’ve been talking to Darling Downs Health officials to clarify who is eligible and I can confirm that anyone over the age of 16, as long as you haven’t already had a Covid vaccine, can access the vaccine at the Goondiwindi Hospital this week.

“This includes people over the age of 59 that would prefer to have Pfizer over Astra Zeneca.

“I also want New South Wales cross-border residents to know that they are encouraged to make the most of the Goondiwindi Hospital Pfizer Super Clinic while it is here.”

Mr Springborg said Goondiwindi was selected to host the super clinic rollout because of its proximity to the border, and the volume of traffic through the region.

“We can’t afford to be complacent and we all need to get serious about protecting ourselves and the community,” he said.
