Cars target of rock throwing vandals in Middle Ridge

A man has voiced his annoyance at the police reporting process, after struggling to report a crime outside his property.

A Toowoomba man has voiced his frustration at the police reporting process after his daughters’ cars were damaged by rocks in an unprovoked incident last week.

Shane Archibald said the cars had been parked outside his Middle Ridge property on Thursday night, when they became the target of rock throwing vandals.

“My daughter came in crying, she was quite upset,” Mr Archibald said.

“The window was smashed on on one, and there was panel damage to both.”

Mr Archibald said he called PoliceLink and was told to fill out an online form.

“It wouldn’t load, the wheel kept spinning,” Mr Archibald said.

“It seems frustrating that someone could damage our property and then walk away and we can’t even report it easily.

“The people who did it were probably out last night doing it again.”

After calling PoliceLink multiple times, Mr Archibald was given help with the form and a forensic team did attend the property that day.

“I think I would prefer to talk to a person and be made to feel like it’s important, not just some online impersonalised form,” Mr Archibald said about the service.
