A Toowoomba cafe which soared to popularity shortly after opening has hit the market, with the owners listing the grocer for sale this month.

James St Grocer opened in early 2019 on James St and the initial plan was to just focus on gourmet takeaway food.

But with so many people wanting to sit and enjoy their fresh food and coffee, it became apparent they needed a larger location, so after six weeks the grocer relocated to Mary Street.

Now, the business has been listed for sale by DC Commercial with it being advertised as a “profitable opportunity to purchase a slice of the affluent Toowoomba cafe scene”.

James St Grocer has an mouth-watering deli area with fresh gourmet salads, pate, olives, dips, breads, cakes, desserts, meats and old-fashioned confectionery such as handmade Turkish delight and peanut brittle.

It’s also open for lunch and breakfast.

The co-owners Ash Forbes and Alex Kennedy have recently launched a new venture, taking over former wedding venue Preston Manor and transforming it into stunning lifestyle destination Preston Estate.

While the venue is new, they have held a number of events already with others planned such as regular high teas, long lunches, picnic opportunities, outdoor dining, high end jazz days, art exhibitions as well the opportunity for private functions.
