TOOWOOMBA businesses are being encouraged to bring Carnival of Flowers into the CBD.

Spring for Toowoomba is always a very exciting time, typically bringing tens of thousands of people to our region, who stay overnight and spend money in our local businesses.

But this year is different, and CBD businesses have been hit hard by the restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Toowoomba Chamber is encouraging all CBD tenants and landlords to get involved in the spirit of the carnival by window dressing their shop fronts in a way that celebrates the iconic Toowoomba event - whether that be flowers or artwork or their own personal interpretation of the Carnival of Flowers.

Cracker Print and Paper are excited to join with the Chamber providing participation stickers and support.

Chamber CEO Todd Rohl said the Toowoomba Chamber was rebooting the carnival of CBD windows concept as a way to increase foot traffic in the CBD during the Carnival of Flowers.

"The idea stems from concerns raised by CBD traders about declining foot traffic in the CBD an outcome of the CBD Revitalisation Advisory Committee, consultation with local businesses," he said.

"We are hopeful the idea will increase foot traffic and excitement in the city centre and compliment what has already been planned for the Carnival of Flowers.

"The Toowoomba Chamber will promote local businesses who participate through its social media platforms, in a bid to encourage people back into the CBD.

"By bringing people into the CBD we are hoping that people will spend money in local eateries, boutiques and other stores by creating a carnival like atmosphere in the CBD."

If any local business in the CBD would like to participate please contact Deb Robinson at memberships@toowoombachamber.com.au or phone the Toowoomba Chamber on 07 4638 0400.
