It’s blue, white and beautiful.
Emma Bishop’s Hamptons coastal-style property in Highfields has been inspiring home decor fans across the country for years.
Mrs Bishop’s website and Instagram page, Hamptons in Highfields, has grown in popularity in recent times, with more than 17,000 followers on social media.
Her page is designed to inspire people to create beautiful spaces with the knowledge that beautiful doesn’t always mean expensive.
She offers styling advice as well as do-it-yourself tips and tricks.
“You can create a beautiful home on a budget. Hamptons in Highfields is full of DIYs that anyone can achieve,” she said.
“Earlier this year I created a blog where we have all our DIYs listed with step-by-step instructions on every project.
“Everything from how to style your bedside tables or how to make a magazine worthy bed to how to add board and batten to your walls.”
Mrs Bishop started the page in 2016 when she was pregnant with her youngest child.
It was a creative outlet where she could practise her photography skills and showcase her passion for interiors.
She said her home had an inviting coastal feel and she enjoyed sharing her styling knowledge and encouraging others to style their own home.
“You really don’t have to spend a lot of money to create a dream room,” she said.
“We see our home as a place where you can shut the world away. My husband and I have added character to our home with wall accents such as shiplap, wainscoting and fretwork, these feature throughout.
“We have quiet little corners with window seats to sit and watch the world go by and a beautiful old fashioned swing chair on our front porch with large manicured green hedges that adorn our property line for complete privacy.”

Top 3 tips when styling a room
1. A statement piece as a focal point, whether it be a rug to anchor the room or a beautiful linen set, spend a little more money on this item and it will defiantly make the difference.
2. Window dressings are often forgotten when creating a space, my advice don’t skip this step as it can bring an entire space together with minimal spend. TIP: When using curtains take the rail as high as you can to the ceiling, doing this gives the illusion of a much bigger window, while also making the room appear larger.
3. Have fun because designing a room should bring you joy. Don’t stress on the little things. If for example you’re painting and decided you don’t like the colour, change it. As a dear friend once said to me “it’s just paint and you can always paint it again.”
