Battery World Toowoomba evacuated after fire sparks

Firefighters cleared the scene of a Toowoomba CBD business on Monday afternoon after a fire took hold. SEE THE VIDEO

Battery World Toowoomba fire

Two Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to Battery World on James Street after reports a battery had exploded.

The heat from the explosion sparked a small structure fire.

They arrived shortly after 4.30pm on Monday and were able to get control of the scene within minutes.

A QFES spokeswoman said they would remain at the scene until the building was cleared of smoke and the atmosphere was deemed safe.

Staff had evacuated the building prior to the crews arriving and there are no reports of injuries.
