A Toowoomba apprentice is one of 10 recipients to benefit from this year’s Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grant, receiving $3000 towards furthering his education and building his toolbox.
The Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants program was founded with the purpose to ease the financial pressure faced by apprentice plumbers.
There were 187 applicants in 2021 and Matthew Allen’s was one that stood out to the judging panel.
Mr Allen is in the fourth year of his apprenticeship working for a local plumbing company and said he was extremely grateful for the grant which would make a big difference to him in his final year.
“It will have a great impact on my career as a plumber and I’ll be able to pay off the rest of my TAFE fees and finish my certificate three in plumbing,” he said.
“It will also enable me to purchase all the necessary tools and equipment to be able to do my job effectively and efficiently.
“This is an overwhelming gift, it is much appreciated and I will never forget it.”
Mr Allen takes on many of the customer service aspects within his role and one day hopes to run his own company.
