PART of the Bedford St waste facility will be sacrificed to make way for the Toowoomba Bypass.

PART of the Bedford St waste facility will be sacrificed to make way for the Toowoomba Bypass.

Council plans to issue an early call for contractors to show interest in moving existing infrastructure which falls within the bypass corridor.

The project needs to be fast-tracked so the land is clear by March next year.

No decision has been made on whether the infrastructure will be moved within the Bedford St dump or to an off-site location.

"A report discussing options for future operations at Bedford St will need to be presented to council in the near future," a report presented to council stated.

"However, pending council's decision on what site is preferred and as the timeframes for accommodating the impact of the (bypass) are extremely tight, it is necessary to fast-track wherever possible the delivery of the aforementioned infrastructure."
