A TOOWOOMBA teenager has sworn off alcohol after she assaulted a woman on a CBD street in broad daylight during a drunken tirade.

A very remorseful Shakira Duncan had later told police she had been drinking vodka on June 20 and when she drank vodka she "gets cheeky", Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

The 18-year-old had become engaged in an argument with two staff members of First Choice Liquor Market in Herries St about 3.50pm.

A woman had been stopped at the lights nearby and Duncan had thrown a bottle across the road which struck the woman's car, the court heard.

When the driver got out of her car to ask Duncan what was going on, the teenager had thrown a speaker at her.

Duncan had then punched the woman in the face before pulling her hair.

She was then pulled away by two men, the court heard.

Duncan pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm as well as to unrelated offences including shoplifting a jumper from Target in Grand Central and some hair dye from Coles.

Her solicitor Michael McElhinney told the court his client was very remorseful for her actions that day and hasn't drunk alcohol since.

His client had no criminal history whatsoever, he said.

Magistrate Kay Ryan said the assault while intoxicated brought a mandatory term of community service.

Ms Ryan ordered the convictions not be recorded and ordered Duncan do 60 hours of unpaid community service and fined her $400 on the shoplifting matters.
