From the $500m redevelopment of Grand Central, to the $70m Wilsonton Shopping Centre upgrade and Waltons Stores in the CBD, there are a lot of new shops coming to the Garden City.

And while we've got plenty of shops to choose from, too much retail is never enough.

Toowoomba residents have made it clear exactly the shops they want to see.

Lachlan Browne wants to see the Swedish multinational IKEA, Freedom Furniture, David Jones and Starbucks come to town.

Kylie Morrison is in the market for handmade cosmetics and donuts, calling for Lush and Krispy Kremes.

Jayde Xtm said Toowoomba needs a baby store.

There had been one in the Bernoth Centre buts it's no longer there.

Keegan Walsh backed the call for the foreign giants.

"I'm gonna say we need an IKEA store, Costco, major clothing brands stores. We have a heap of hardware mega stores with more to come. We don't need anymore."

Kate Warby called for some country style.

"Country Road, Seed, Cinori Shoes and more boutique stores for those who don't live in Toowoomba, however, visit regularly from rural areas

Natalie Wright  wants Toowoomba to follow the path of the Gold Coast.

"Gloria Jeans, Pancake Parlour - outlet stores like those at Harbour Town would be good," she said.

Keeping what we have is a priority for Richard Jones.

"How about keeping the ABC shop going?" he said.

Laurene Bruggemann agreed.

"How about the businesses that are here be supported? Grand Central is a ghost town most days."
