Organisers are working “around the clock” across the next five days to ensure that P!nk’s two concerts at Queensland Country Bank Stadium are a success for Townsville.
The stadium’s general manager Tom Kimball said preparation for the concert across the next five days would be massive, with 67 trucks delivering the equipment needed for both of the superstar’s shows.
Catering supplies had already arrived on Monday morning and the stadium was expected to sell 15,000 glasses of wine, up to 10,000 cans of pink gin and soda, and 4000 bags of chips.
Mr Kimball said there were 150 staff working this week ensure everything ran smoothly for more than 60,000 attendees for the sell out shows on March 22 and 23.
1500 casual staff were rostered to work during the two concerts as well.
“(We’re) going to smash the stadium record,” he said.
“We’re going to surpass the State of Origin 1 record a few years ago and host over 60,000 fans across two massive nights.”
Workers would wear pink high-vis outfits, the popcorn and hotdogs would be pink, and the Johnathan Thurston statue would be wearing pink head gear.
And Mr Kimball said the atmosphere would flow into the rest of the city.
“Each night we know these shows pump money into the local economy, we know the hotels are going to be full, we know the cafes and bars are going to be pumping and we know we’re going to bring people into the city,” he said.
Gates would open from 5pm on these nights with Tones and I performing from 7pm.
