A driver who allegedly hit two people on a scooter at Gilles Plains McDonalds on Sunday night then fled the scene, with police now investigating.

Emergency services were called to the scene on North East Rd about 5.40pm, where the rider and passenger of the scooter - a 35-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both of Modbury Heights - were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Police are following positive lines of inquiry regarding the driver of the sedan.

An individual posting on Reddit said he was at the scene north of Adelaide, where the woman who had been riding pillion was in “excruciating pain” after she had been “left lying on the cold asphalt, floating in and out of consciousness while I called triple-0”.

He said he “made sure she was still alive and breathing” after the sedan driver allegedly hit the scooter at the drive-through.

“Her partner (was) staring helpless, desperate,” the man said on Reddit.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
