A woman has been flown to hospital after falling from her horse in the hills north of Adelaide.

At about 2.30pm, emergency services were called to Humbug Scrub, near Mt Crawford, after reports a person had suffered traumatic injuries from a horse riding incident.

An SA Ambulance spokeswoman said the 48-year-old woman has been flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

She is currently in a stable condition, with specialist paramedics called in to assist with spinal precautions.

SAAS said the woman had suffered injuries to her hip, head and ankle but was conscious.
