Three people arrested after a fight at Parafield Gardens High School sent it into lockdown

Three people, including a 26-year-old man, were arrested after a fight sparked a school lockdown in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Wednesday.

A northern suburbs school went into lockdown and three people were arrested after a fight broke out on school grounds.

At about 12.15pm on Wednesday, police were called to a disturbance at Parafield Gardens High School, which was then locked down to ensure the safety of students and staff.

In a letter to families, school principal Kirsty Amos said the brawl, which broke out toward to end of the recess break, involved “students and individuals not enrolled” at the school.

She said the lockdown, which lasted 15 minutes, “upset” the school community.

“Our school takes a strong stance on violence and bullying,” she wrote.

“We are taking appropriate disciplinary action.”

She said “wellbeing support” would be offered to any students or staff impacted.

Police said the people involved in the fight, who are known to each other, were treated for minor injuries.

Police later arrested a Parafield Gardens man, 26, and two boys from Mawson Lakes, both aged 15, and charged them with aggravated affray and aggravated assault.

They have all been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court and Elizabeth Youth Court at a later date.
