Six people have been arrested, after allegedly robbing a Dan Murphy’s in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, four of which were teenage girls between 14 and 16.
A police spokeswoman said they swept in on the group about 8pm on Saturday near to a bus stop on Payneham Rd after they allegedly stole alcohol from Dan Murphy’s Marden.
Four teenage girls aged 14 to 16, a 20-year-old Gilles Plains woman and a 36-year-old Adelaide man were arrested and charged with theft.
The group was also seen earlier in the day attempting to enter Dan Murphy’s at St Peters, with staff at the store telling 7News they’d seen the group before.
SDA SA secretary Josh Peak labelled the incident “terrifying”.
“Our hope is that the police and courts do take this as seriously as possible because frankly, retail workers are sick of these sorts of incidents occurring,” Mr Peak told 7News.
All members of the group were bailed and are set to appear in court on April 22.
Police said the stolen alcohol was returned to the store.
