A serving South Australian police officer has been suspended with pay, and charged with abusing public office, stalking and assault offences.
SA Police on Thursday afternoon revealed the officer, from the Western District, had been arrested by detectives from SAPOL’s Anti-Corruption Section on Wednesday.
The officer has been charged with one count of abuse of public office, one count of aggravated stalking and two counts of aggravated assault following a “lengthy” investigation.
Police said the officer had been stood down with pay and would appear in court in September.
“As the matter is before the courts, no further comment will be made,” police said in a statement.
It comes shortly after revelations that another serving officer had faced court charged with threatening his former wife with his police firearm.
Southern suburbs officer Tim Waverley Morrison was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated threatening to kill or endanger life, aggravated committing assault with a weapon and damaging property and appeared in court on Monday.
It is not suggested the two cases are linked.
