Royce Nestor, brother of former Adelaide TV newsreader Kelly Nestor, has died suddenly aged 53

There’s been an outpouring of love and support after the unexpected death of the brother of a popular former TV news anchor.

The brother of former TV newsreader Kelly Nestor has been remembered for his “beautiful smile and generous heart” after his death at the age of 53.

Royce Nestor died suddenly on June 19, leaving behind wife Sarah, children Charli and Hunter and a grieving community in Broken Hill.

There has been an outpouring of love and support for the family, including Royce’s sister Kelly, a former Adelaide TV newsreader on Channel 9 and the ABC.

Nestor’s old colleague, SBS newsreader Indira Naidoo, said Royce had a “beautiful face and smile”.

“Such a difficult time for you and your family my gorgeous friend. Sending you an abundance of love and strength,” Naidoo wrote on Nestor’s Facebook post.

Selina Larovere-nagas described Royce as “one of a kind” in a post on social media.

“Such fond memories of your laughter and conversation,” she wrote.

Brooke Westley, the partner of Royce’s daughter Charli, said that Royce had a “huge, bubbly personality”.

“I’ll forever miss your long stories, your cooking tips, the way you made fun of me, and your constant love and support. You welcomed me into your family with open arms, and I felt that love from day one,” Brooke wrote.

“One of my biggest regrets is not getting the chance to ask for your permission to marry your daughter. I hope you knew how much I love her, and how much your blessing would have meant to me.

“Rest easy, Royce. We will miss you forever.”

Childhood friend Amanda Morris said Royce had “eyes and a smile that would light up any room”.

A special In Memoriam mass will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Broken Hill, on Thursday at 1.30pm.
