Roads closed as Medstar rush to crash scene at Munno Para Downs

A young male driver is in a critical condition and two women have escaped with minor injuries after a high-impact crash in Adelaide’s north left two cars wrecked and roads closed.

A 24-year-old man is fighting for life after a horror crash at Munno Para Downs on Thursday morning.

Police and emergency services rushed to the intersection of Dalkeith Rd and Coventry Rd just after 9am after a red Nissan X-Trail SUV and a red Holden sedan station wagon collided.

The Holden’s driver, a 24-year-old man from Craigmore, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

His passenger, a 20-year-old woman also from Craigmore, was hospitalised with minor injuries.

The Nissan driver, a 45-year-old woman from Virginia, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Holden’s driver’s side was left caved in from the impact of the collision, while the Nissan’s bonnet was crumpled, its front bumper ripped off, and the headlights and grille completely destroyed.

One of the Nissan’s front wheels was visibly twisted, with debris and glass scattered across the roadside and verge.

The scene, located just metres from the Dalkeith Country Fire Service station, was cordoned off for hours by police while Major Crash investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
