Gas leak repaired, roads reopened in Nuriootpa

Emergency services have headed to a gas a leak in a Barossa Valley town after workers hit a line.

A gas leak on Moppa Road in the Barossa has now been repaired, police say.

Earlier on Tuesday, residents living near the intersection of Moppa and Greenock roads in Nuriootpa were asked to stay indoors and shut their windows due to reports of a gas leak in the area.

The Advertiser understands construction workers had hit a gas main along Moppa Road.

Police asked residents who live within a 150m distance from the intersection of Moppa and Greenock roads to remain indoors, shut all windows and doors and turn off airconditioning.

“If you smell gas or are feeling unwell please call emergency services,” police said in a statement.

Road closures have now been lifted, including on Samuel Road and Greenock Road.
