A random traffic stop has led to a man and woman facing serious drug charges, after police say they found a stash of hallucinogenic drugs inside the car then more illicit drugs at two properties.
On Monday August 12, officers stopped a car that was allegedly speeding on Ipari Tce at Morphett Vale, about 7.15pm.
During a search of the car, police allegedly found several illicit drugs including 28 deal bags containing cannabis and 102 capsules of hallucinogens, better known as crushed illegal mushroom powder.
The people in the car – a 48-year-old Morphett Vale man and a 44-year-old Edwardstown woman – were subsequently arrested.
Following another search of an Edwardstown home, police allegedly found 381 capsules containing controlled mushrooms along with about 200g of powdered mushrooms and 74 capsules containing cannabis.
Police later searched a house on Ipari Tce at Morphett Vale, and allegedly found an illicit mushroom farm and evidence of cannabis oil/butter production.
At the home, more than 2000 capsules containing controlled mushroom powder and about three kilograms of dried cannabis were allegedly found.
The pair were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch remained at the property to seize other items.
