New details have been aired in court of a scary suburban home invasion, in which four men allegedly smashed a door with hammers before one fired a shot through it, hitting the home’s occupant in the leg.

On Friday, the Elizabeth Magistrates Court heard a continuing bail application for Lachlan Pike-Wills, 22, who was allegedly involved in the shooting at Gulfview Heights in January.

Police prosecution told the court Mr Pike-Wills, of Pooraka, was a prescribed applicant due to the alleged use of a firearm during the break-in – which was captured on CCTV allegedly being passed between the four accused.

The court heard the men were allegedly captured on “clear” CCTV at the premises and identified.

The men allegedly entered the home while the occupant was present, before threatening him with a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle.

Prosecution alleged the man fled into a separate room, and the four accused struck it repeatedly with hammers before firing a shot through the door – hitting the man in the thigh.

The man was taken to hospital and has since recovered.

The court heard the four men then fled the scene after allegedly stealing a variety of the occupant’s personal property.

He is yet to enter a plea.

The court heard after the shooting, the suspects were located by police, and the rifle was found in a bag alongside ammunition inside a car.

The court heard the gun had been allegedly stolen from its lawful owner in December 2024.

Counsel for Mr Pike-Wills told the court he has limited criminal history, and had previously been compliant with conditions of home detention.

They further submitted he would be unable to contact his co-accused in the matter, Jyrell Davey, 19, Jayden John Sansbury, 24, and Arshaan Ahmad Khan, 32, as they had not applied for bail and had been remanded in custody.

Defence counsel submitted their client had been in custody for 14 days since his arrest – his longest stint on record – and he had “not enjoyed” the experience.

The court heard Mr Pike-Wills would be living with his mother if released, whose home had been deemed suitable by Corrections.

Magistrate Rodney Oates found special circumstances had been made and released Mr Pike-Wills on home detention bail.

But police prosecutors applied for his release to be stayed, seeking to have the decision reviewed by the Supreme Court, which will hear the matter next week.
