A popular park in the eastern suburbs will soon be home to a new playground, after Norwood Payneham & St Peters Council voted for new facilities.

A redevelopment of Koster Park in Trinity Gardens includes a new rope climb, accessible carousel, accessible dipper rocker, a swing set and an accessible “main play” structure.

Mayor Robert Bria said the upgrade was “overdue”, and ensured the new playground would remain functional for years to come.

“Koster Park is a fantastic asset in our city and is very popular with young families in the local area,” Mr Bria said.

“The construction of the new playground is an exciting development for the neighbourhood and will certainly enhance the amenity of the park.”

The council confirmed the historic kiln at the Trinity Gardens park was remaining.

Located between Ashbrook Ave and Avonmore Ave, Koster Park – which hosts the annual Jazz in the Park event – joins a growing list of renovated playgrounds in the area.

Last month, council announced the grand opening of popular Maylands sports facility, Cruikshank Reserve – which had undergone a $1.3m upgrade including a new clubroom, changerooms, toilets, canteen and a new office.

Burchell Reserve – a $4.2m redevelopment that would see the construction of new multipurpose courts, a wheelchair accessible trampoline, public toilets, playground, barbecues and park furniture – is also expected to be opened to the public next month.
