Adelaide’s landmark Hilton hotel is about to get a serious facelift, with new owner Amora Hotels and Resorts announcing a $60 million overhaul of the 377-room property following a formal acquisition ceremony this week.
The Hilton Adelaide, which first opened in October 1982 as the city’s first major five-star international hotel, has been acquired by the Amora Group as part of its growing Australian portfolio.
The transition of ownership was celebrated at a signing ceremony on Monday, attended by Amora Chairwoman Amornrat Siriphatrawan and directors Mr Earp Siriphatrawan, Miss Chatkaew Siriphatrawan, and Miss Eye Siriphatrawan.
“This acquisition is a major milestone in our strategy to expand Amora’s presence in Australia’s key gateway cities,” said Mr Earp Siriphatrawan.
“Adelaide’s dynamic events calendar, thriving business environment, and vibrant cultural scene make it an ideal location for Amora to grow and invest in.”
Also present were Vice President of Operations Tamar Habib and Group Director of Business Development and Asset Management Narej Farik, who revealed plans for a full-scale refurbishment led by Cottee Parker Architects.
“Expanding into Adelaide gives us the opportunity to elevate the guest experience with top-tier service and upgraded facilities in a new location,” Mr Habib said.
“With these renovations, we aim to create a destination that blends exceptional comfort, dining, and event spaces, making it the perfect choice for both business and leisure travellers.”
The sweeping renovation will touch every part of the hotel, including guest rooms, restaurants and bars, wellness spaces, and the hotel’s 20 conference and meeting rooms.
Existing facilities like the business lounge, outdoor pool, gym and tennis court will also be enhanced.
Design plans and renders unveiled at the event show a bold new vision that aligns with Amora’s luxury standards seen across its existing hotels in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
The hotel will continue operating under Hilton management until June 2026, after which the refurbished property will emerge fully under the Amora banner.
The announcement marks a new chapter for the iconic property that helped put Adelaide on the map for international travellers more than four decades ago.
