The Advertiser/7NEWS Adelaide: Two fatal crashes, southern suburbs police chase

Major Crash Investigators are appealing for a driver to come forward, who may have witnessed a fatal crash in the northern suburbs on Thursday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just before 10am along Bellchambers Rd, Penfield, where a white Ford panel van was travelling in an eastern direction before it crashed into a Stobie pole.

The local 71-year-old man, who was the only occupant of the van, tragically died at the scene.

Following an investigation into the crash, police have identified that a grey coloured SUV was travelling west along the Bellchambers Rd at the time of the collision.

The driver is not considered to be involved in the crash in any way, however, police believe they might be able to provide information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone who may have been driving on Bellchambers Rd or has any dashcam footage around the time of the crash is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 – as police continue to investigate the incident.

Police said his death is the 48th life lost on the state’s roads this year.
