Nothing has the power to kickstart your adrenaline quite like doing what you love most on the big stage.
So when St Ursula’s College junior dance troupe member Grace Gleeson took to the stage at the 76th City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod, it was a moment filled with mixed emotions.
“The first time before you go on the stage, you feel so nervous, but then afterwards you realise how easy it was and you just feel so relieved,” she said.
“It’s really good because you get to perform with your friends and we always give each other high-fives afterwards.”
The talented young dancer has been performing jazz, ballet and contemporary, among other genres, for the past 10 years.
But when it comes to what her future holds and whether she will pursue a professional career in dance, Grace says “we’ll just have to wait and see”.
Several categories will be held in the Empire Theatre auditorium, during a morning session from 8am today, followed by an afternoon session from 12.30pm.
These sections will include classical ballet for ages six and under, musical theatre for eight years and younger and tap for 10 years and younger, among others.
The 76th City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod will conclude on August 7.
