One young couple has turned a sweet Sunday brunch tradition into a successful new venture.
After living in the South of France, Dean Baxendale discovered his love for crepes, so when he returned to Toowoomba and later met his partner Emily Scott, making crepes became a weekly ritual for the pair.
Together the pair decided to open their business La Belle Creperie, and after just a few months of attending markets around the region and Brisbane, they have turned their side hustle into a full-time gig.
“We think (its popularity) is due to crepes being different, but not to the point that people are scared to try them,” Mr Baxendale said.
“It’s not like we’re serving frog legs.”
With early morning starts and late night finishes, the success of the business hasn’t come without hard work and dedication.
Catering to all flavour palettes, the couple offers three sweet and two savoury options, as well as a monthly special.
When it comes to the secret behind a perfect crepe, the couple said making the batter was “a fine art.”
The couple is at the Toowoomba Farmers’ Markets every Saturday.
