A Logan mother of three and former dental assistant’s vile plot to take revenge on her ex-husband by sharing a sex tape they made together, has backfired.
Sarah Jessica Armstrong, 29, made a sex tape with her former husband and sent it five times to his new partner, heard Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
The Logan Central mother of three also threatened to destroy his career and the business ran by his mother.
The court heard threats of physical harm were made by Armstrong to the victims and her mother-in-law asked her to stop messaging, but she continued.
The offending occurred over a nine-month period which began on November, 2022 and was exacerbated by Armstrong’s postnatal depression, said her defence lawyer Kristie Horne.
“The pair had been together for 12 years, since high school, and Ms Armstrong struggled with the split,” she said.
“They have three children together and she was suffering from postnatal depression at the time, there was quite inflammatory language used by all three parties.
“She is deeply remorseful for her choice of language and behaviour, her genuine remorse was also noted by the arresting officer.”
Armstrong pleaded guilty on Friday, November 3 to distributing intimate images and contravening a direction or requirement from police.
The court heard Armstrong had no criminal history.
Magistrate Shane Elliott said her behaviour was aggravated because they were domestic violence offences.
“What is particularly concerning is the distributing intimate images charge, a form of revenge porn,” he said.
“This is taken seriously as it can cause embarrassment, fear and exacerbate mental health conditions.
“I appreciate it was a huge error of judgement but if you had a history of offending you would be facing prison for this offence.”
Armstrong was sentenced to a 12 month probation order and no conviction was recorded.
