A STRAY trailer caused chaos on the Toowoomba Range after tipping a load of grain which blocked both lanes of the Warrego Hwy.
The tandem trailer separated from a rigid body truck on the down section of the Range about 8.10am yesterday.
It came to rest on its side on a bend near the eastern end of the Seymour White construction zone. The driver of the truck continued down the Range, pulling over to the side of the road just before Withcott.
Toowoomba police station officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon said equipment from the Seymour White construction site was used to clear a path.
"They were able to clear one lane to get rid of the backlog of traffic," Snr Sgt Deacon said.
Vehicles which had been stuck behind the crash were able to get through about 9.30am.
The Range remained open for most of the morning, only closing temporarily to allow a heavy haulage truck to remove the stricken trailer.
Both lanes of the Range were reopened by 1.15pm.
Snr Sgt Deacon said investigations were continuing into how the trailer became separated.
No-one was injured.
