ENGINES were revving on the weekend as the Darling Downs Harley Owners group and Toowoomba City Rotary Club prepared for their massive Cruise for Cancer fundraiser next month.

Preparing to cruise

Club members rode the 41km journey from Queens Park to Haden yesterday to prepare for more than 100 riders to take part in the event on August 26.

Cruise for Cancer committee secretary Dianne Hubbard said there was strong belief it could raise the cash necessary to pay for a room at the Olive McMahon Lodge for a year.

"Our goal is $10,000, which goes towards sponsoring a room at the Olive McMahon Lodge, where people can stay for free while they're undergoing treatment for cancer," she said.

"Then if we do happen to raise more than that, it goes to the Cancer Council."
