It’s lights, cameras, action for the performers of a highly anticipated theatrical cocktail lounge, with the red curtains set to open for the first time in days.

Toowoomba’s Lok and Kee will open its doors this month for its first official showcase, A New Vintage, featuring a variety of acts with three soloists and one duo of local talent.

Owner Teela Strang said the performance would take audiences back in time to the Hollywood glam era.

“There is so much incredible talent hidden away here in Toowoomba,” she said.

“A New Vintage will be an exploration of showbiz dreams, with a touch of burlesque, daring aerials, captivating comedy and sensual dance, delivered in a new breed of entertainment with style.”

Ms Strang said she had held an in-house audition day for performers last month.

“This process was excruciating as every single applicant was so passionate,” Ms Strang said.

“We had 12 successful applicants of varying skills and cannot wait to bring them to a showcase for Toowoomba.”

Ms Strang is currently looking for a permanent space for Lok and Kee to call home.

In the meantime, the venue will hold a monthly showcase at the iconic Powerhouse on Neil St.

A New Vintage is on Saturday, March 26 and starts at 6.30pm.

Tickets will be offered to V.I.P customers before they are released to the general public online at lokandkee.com.au.
