One step inside Toowoomba’s newest hotspot will make you feel like you’re on a tropical holiday.

Ever since the signage went up for the Kokonut Cafe and Bar, the public have been waiting with bated breath for the doors to open.

And the day has finally come with the brand new venue set to open on Monday.

With almost 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry and after running his own food ventures since 2014, founder Jason Van Hunnik, 40, sought to find the perfect site and fell in love with the garden city.

Inspired by the tropical bars and cafes you would find in Singapore or Hong Kong, the founder said he wanted to create a trendy venue that allowed foodies to explore different flavours.

“Community matters to us and Toowoomba – the city we love, ticked all the right boxes,” Mr Van Hunnik said.

“We have already got to know some of the locals and they seemed ecstatic about our concept – our heart and core is about building daily relationships with our customers.”

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the business owner said diners won’t go wrong when ordering the speciality big breakfast, nachos share flower or sticky tamarind cauli wing wraps.

Refreshing cocktails, smoothies, juices and milkshakes will also be available to purchase, as well as wine and coffee.

Membership and senior specials will also be available.

Excited to tap into the events market, Mr Van Hunnik said private and corporate functions, wine masterclasses, sip and paint afternoons and high teas were all ideas he hopes to execute once the venue opens.

Kokonut Cafe and Bar is at 21A / 878 Ruthven Street, Kearneys Spring.

Doors will open on Monday, December 13.

Trading hours will be Sunday to Wednesday, from 7am to 2pm and Thursday to Saturday, from 7am to 8pm.
