A young mother has died after a tragic crash on the outskirts of Warwick just weeks from Christmas.

Caitlyn Jensen, 29, was in a Kia Sportage with her fiance Anthony Rye and their three little girls when they became involved in collision with a Nissan Patrol at the intersection of East St and Pratten St at 7.10pm on Friday.

Mr Rye, a 40-year-old Warwick man, sustained life-threatening chest and pelvic injuries and, after he was rushed to Warwick Hospital, was flown to Toowoomba in a critical condition.

On Saturday morning, the man had moved to a stable condition but remained in hospital.

Ms Jensen’s three girls aged five, three and one were taken to Warwick hospital on Friday night in a stable condition with only minor injuries.

Driving the Nissan was a 25-year-old Warwick man who also sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Officers of the Forensic Crash Unit were on scene and have appealed to members of the public who might have seen the crash or have dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

The young mother’s family confirmed the tragic news on Facebook with hundreds from the Southern Downs community offering their condolences.

“I am so terribly sorry to hear about the passing of your beautiful daughter. Our condolences to the family,” one commenter wrote.

“I’m so sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful woman,” another reflected.

“Too close to Christmas for something so tragic to have happened … condolences to the family involved,” one Facebook user wrote.

“RIP Caitlyn, just know your family loves you and we will deeply miss you. I love you cousin,” another said.

Ms Jensen’s death comes after a man died after a car fire in the nearby Lockyer Valley on Friday evening.

Emergency services responded to a vehicle fire at Railway St, Laidley at around 6.40pm.

On arrival, crews located a vehicle on fire and a man was found inside the vehicle deceased.
