A second generation polocrosse player has achieved a massive feat after becoming the first Chinchilla club member to make the Australian World Cup team.

Impressively, this isn’t the 24-year-old’s first rodeo, with a number of world test series already under her belt.

Miles local Lindsey Doolan began her polocrosse journey at just 6-years-old after following in the footsteps of her parents.

“I’ve been hoping to get in it, I had a feeling I had a pretty good chance. It’s still exciting,” Doolan said.

“Mum and dad are pretty excited, they’ve already booked their accommodation.”

Doolan said her passion for polocrosse stems from her lifelong love of horses and growing up on large properties.

“Mum and dad breed horses, so all the horses I have they have bred and I’ve broken them in,” she said.

“I get a lot of satisfaction from breaking a horse in. I’ve always loved horses and wanted anything to do with them.

“In Year 10 I went to boarding school in Armidale, it was an all-girls school, and they had horses there and a polocrosse team.

“Straight after school I moved to Miles in 2016 and joined the Chinchilla club with my partner.”

Doolan said it was a mix of determination and many years of training that have helped her secure a World Cup spot.

“When you start young, the same with any sport, it comes a lot easier,” she said.

“I loved it and put in a lot of work.

“It doesn’t matter how strong you are.

“It’s a sport where men and women and everyone can compete against each other because you’re on a horse.

“You can play with family members and kids and everyone.

“It’s also social sort of sport, afterwards we go to the bar with all my friends, there’s a bit of a lifestyle to it.”

Doolan’s advice to younger polocrosse players with goals to play for Australia one day is to put in the work.

“I wouldn’t say I have a natural talent, I’ve just done it my whole life.

“Just work hard, don’t come up with excuses, you’ll find a way if you work hard enough.”

The Polocrosse World Cup is set to be played in Durban, South Africa in July 2024 with the eight Australian men and women selected for the team revealed last Saturday in Chinchilla.
