Wild kangaroo faces off against dog on Gold Coast

It had the makings of a David vs. Goliath battle as a kangaroo and dachshund came face-to-face on the Gold Coast - but this bout didn’t end quite like you’d expect. SEE THE VIDEO

A dachshund has avoided injury after running rings around a kangaroo on a suburban Gold Coast street.

A video uploaded on March 10 by TikTok user Beauzyyy has captured the moment the small dog was approached by the kangaroo at Hope Island.

Undeterred, the small dog ran circles around the kangaroo before running onto the road.

Crossing back onto the lawn, the dachshund artfully dodged the kangaroo’s attempt to grab it.

The pooch then appears to run off-screen and toward a house while the kangaroo remains on the lawn.

Commenters on the video suggest the kangaroo may have come from the nearby Sanctuary Cove Golf Club.

And reactions to the filmed confrontation were mixed, with many commenting on how lucky the dachshund was.

“Of course it’s a dachshund,” one commenter wrote.

“Proof the dachshund will have a crack at anything, little dog huge heart protecting its turf,” a second added.

Other commenters questioned why the dog was allowed on the street.

“That kangaroo could do some serious damage to your dog,” one commenter wrote.

“Kangaroos have razor sharp claws too. The dog could die by getting kicked to death or torn apart,” a second added.
