Police release CCTV of missing mum Celeste McGain

Detectives have released CCTV footage of Queensland mum of three Celeste McGain as the search for the missing woman ramps up. Do you recognise her?

A missing mum of three may have hitchhiked after walking out of the family home in May, leaving her sons behind to search for her.

Detectives have released vision of Celeste McGain as the search for the missing woman ramps up.

The 40 year old was reported missing on June 1 from the Whitsundays area.

CCTV released depicts Celeste at an employment agency in Cannonvale on Tuesday, May 7.

Ms McGain was last seen by family at her Woodwark home on Paluma Rd about 2pm on Saturday, May 25.

She had moved to the Whitsundays in February to be with her three sons, who are between 25 and 18 years old.

Investigators believe Celeste may have been attempting to hitchhike and are appealing for anyone who sighted a small green ‘beachy’ 4WD vehicle in the vicinity of Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale between May 25 and June 1 to come forward.

Anyone who may have picked up a hitchhiker, or has dashcam vision of CCTV from the area, is urged to contact police.

Celeste is described as caucasian, about 175cm tall with brown eyes and brown, curly hair.

She was last seen wearing a blue skirt and white shirt.

Investigations are continuing.
