An Airlie Beach man who flashed two young women after shooting up in a public toilet has been released back into the community despite concerns about his ability to control his “urges”.

Jamie Lee Brimble was arrested and charged with wilful exposure after he pulled his pants down in front of a 15 year old and a 21 year old as they walked a dog through Proserpine’s Keith Johns Park about 5.40pm on Wednesday, June 2.

Proserpine Magistrates Court heard this week Brimble wolf whistled at the women before exposing himself as he stood at the entrance to the park’s toilet block.

Prosecutor Robert Beamish said police arrived at the park just after 6pm to find Brimble in a locked toilet cubicle, injecting a needle into his arm.

The 33 year old told the officers he was “doing drugs” and had “just shot up a point”, Mr Beamish said.

He was charged then released on bail on the condition that he not attend the town of Proserpine, then locked up again after members of the public reported him loitering for several hours at the Proserpine BP on June 4.

He remained in custody from that date, with a new bail application denied in the Proserpine court on June 7.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service solicitor Phillip Moore argued it would be unjust to give his client any more jail time, despite agreeing with Magistrate James Morton’s concerns that “a pattern is emerging” with regards to his offending.

“He does have a history for wilful exposure,” Mr Moore said.

“All of these offences appear to have occurred at times when he was under the influence of drugs, so his drug use really needs to be dealt with.”

Mr Beamish told the court Brimble was on a four-month suspended jail sentence for driving offences at the time of the latest arrests.

Mr Morton convicted Brimble of breach of bail, posses utensils, possess dangerous drugs, and wilful exposure.

He activated the suspended sentence, and imposed a fresh two-month jail sentence, and an $800 fine, and ordered the forfeiture of the seized drug utensils.

Brimble was given immediate parole, with the condition that he must submit to drug testing, and a recommendation to seek psychological counselling.

“The next time you want to go pulling your genitalia out, go and get some assistance, or else something bad’s going to happen one day,” Mr Morton said.

“I’m concerned about your conduct, especially with young girls.”
