A man suffering from a terminal illness has been charged with a range of alleged drug offences including drug production and possessing a large amount of dangerous drugs.
The Proserpine Magistrates Court heard Grahame Marshall had a terminal illness that made his bail conditions “onerous” when he appeared on June 16.
Mr Marshall faced court charged with allegedly producing drugs, possessing items used in the commission of a crime, possessing tainted property, buying or possessing s4 or s8 medicines or poisons, and possessing drugs a quantity of or exceeding schedule 3.
Police prosecutor Lucy Hughes said given the charges and quantities they would be electing for indictment and requested a brief be ordered.
Lawyer Giulian Grasso from Whitsunday Law appeared on behalf of the 70-year-old seeking to vary his bail conditions.
The court heard the current conditions which saw him reporting three days a week were difficult for him to complete, and he had no history of failing to appear.
Magistrate Anna Smith varied the bail conditions so Mr Marshall would only need to report one day a week and adjourned the matter for mention on August 11.
