A North Queensland high school called the police for help after a student’s misbehaviour placed the school in lockdown.

The Queensland Department of Education said it was notified about a ‘precautionary lockdown’ at Collinsville State High School on Thursday.

A spokesman said the school entered the lockdown at 11.25am.

“The Queensland Police Service were contacted and attended the school to assist staff and monitor the situation,” the spokesman said.

“The lockdown was lifted at 12.05pm and classes resumed as normal.”

When contacted, Queensland Police Service said no arrests were made at the school throughout the disturbance.

Staff, students and members of the school community were safe during the lockdown, according to the Queensland Department of Education.

According to the department spokesman, parents and carers have been informed and support is available at the school for anyone who requires it.

Calls to the school were not returned.
