There's always next season in footy but clubs have to share

NO Warwick premierships this season but we can do much better with a lot more co-operation.

IT is time for all footy clubs to work together to secure a premiership at Darling Downs or Toowoomba level next season.

All three teams from the Southern Downs which played in Toowoomba finals at the weekend went down, the Warwick Redbacks in Aussie rules, Wattles in A-grade rugby league and Warwick in second-division rugby league.

Our football teams and rugby union teams didn't make it to finals days.

I have advocated in the past all teams getting together to share.

A player from the Brisbane Lions could help the kickers from Aussie rules, rugby league and rugby union.

A fitness guru from Brisbane Roar football could help all the codes and it is the same with motivation and training drills.

I have often said I only go to Toowoomba to take photos of our teams winning grand finals and if I have to get to a major hospital in a hurry.

It was the hospital bit that happened this year; I broke an ankle which has slowed me up and unfortunately I didn't miss any GF victories.

AFL loss

ONE has to feel sorry for the Warwick Redbacks team, which was on the wrong side of a scoring mix-up in the preliminary final in the AFL Darling Downs competition.

Redbacks president Ben Lubben has a hunch the real score was 70-all before extra time but the Redbacks, like every team in the country would do, were aiming to keep the one-point lead they had on the scoreboard.

Lubben has come up with some changes in procedure for the future which includes videoing all finals games.

I am not a video expert and suspect Aussie rules would be one of the harder sports to video.

Let's hope the current disappointment in Redbacks ranks will be turned around this time next year with a grand final appearance.
