SPORTS VIEW with Gerard Walsh

THERE will only be one Sir Donald Bradman but Ellyse Perry looks to be the next best cricketer to play the game.

She averages more than 70 with the bat in Tests, second only to Bradman, and is just as good with ball as bat. Few cricketers take seven wickets in a one-day game as Perry has.

Ashes on

THE men's cricket Ashes start this week and one wonders if Cameron Bancroft will return to the top of the order.

He made it into the squad instead of Queensland Bulls opener Joe Burns.

I am a fan of Burns but the reality is Bancroft, Smith and Warner did their time after the sandpaper on the ball incident in South Africa and now should be considered equally with the players who filled their places.

Game of season

RUGBY league returns to the Warwick and Clifton areas this weekend.

Wattles and Valleys are the top two sides and will meet on Saturday night in Clifton.

The Cowboys are third and have a home game against the in form Gatton side on Sunday.
